With the virus causing people so much trepidation, dentists are ramping up their safety and sanitation procedures even more. Team Safety

Practices are making sure that their teams as are well-equipped for the pandemic as possible. They are taking courses on enhanced prevention and virus awareness. Team members are screened daily to ensure that they are healthy and able to provide safe, efficient dental care. Scrubs are only worn in the office and cleaned daily, making sure that they receive no outside contact.

Additional Safety Gear

Though they’d love to greet you with a smile, team members will be wearing protective gear at all times. Front desk team members are equipped with ASTM Level 3 masks. Clinical team members such as hygienists and dental assistants with be doubly protected with N95 and ASTM Level 3 masks. During clinical work, dental teams are using both masks and FDA-Approved PET face shields. In certain cases, disposable, protective coats and hats are also work to limit exposure to airborne particles.

Safer Visits

Dental patient safety is always the top priority. Patients are able to check-in directly from their cars so that they can avoid others in the waiting area. Additionally, waiting areas will be social-distanced and will be devoid of books and magazines to make sure that no germs are being passed through shared materials. Patients are pre-screened with a questionnaire and a no-touch temperature check.

Appointments are sequenced and longer to minimize the number of people in the office at any given time and maximize the amount of dentistry that can be done. Families can also schedule appointments for up to 6 members at a time.

Sterile Offices and Tools

All tools, surfaces, and equipment are sterilized and disinfected after each appointment without exception. Each evening, practices are doing an even more thorough cleaning of the entire office to make it completely safe for the following day. Some offices are even using HEPA-grade air filter and high-speed chairside suction to keep particles from escaping into the air.

Dentists are working very hard to keep you healthy while ensuring your safety in a sterile environment. Stay safe, be well, and enjoy your beautiful smile.
