Have you been wanting to straighten your smile without the awkward metal brackets of braces? Now you can with Invisalign in Marysville – the set of clear plastic aligners that gradually straighten your teeth in less time than braces. They are also much more subtle. Hardly anyone will even notice them! Of course, you probably have concerns about Invisalign and how it works. Read on to learn the answers to 6 of your questions.
1. How Does Invisalign Work?
Invisalign uses a series of clear plastic aligner trays that place gentle pressure on your teeth to shift them into the desired straight position. Wear your aligners for at least 22 hours a day. Each set represents a different step in your journey to a straight smile. You’ll wear each set for about 2 weeks, as prescribed by your dentist in Marysville. You’ll visit the office every 6 to 8 weeks for a checkup, and to pick up your next few sets of aligners. Treatment typically only takes 12 months of treatment, as opposed to the 18 to 24 months that braces take.
2. How Can I Eat with Invisalign?
Unlike braces, Invisalign comes with no dietary restrictions. Simply remove your aligners before you eat, and brush your teeth and place them back in afterwards. The same goes for drinking any beverage with the exception of water, because everything else can stain your aligners.
3. Is Invisalign Expensive?
The cost of Invisalign depends on several factors, including:
- How long your treatment takes
- Your level of teeth misalignment
- Your insurance
Invisalign costs about the same as traditional braces. These days, most insurance plans will cover orthodontic treatment, at least up to a certain point. You and your dentist can work out a payment plan with your insurance company to make your new straight smile affordable.
4. Will I Talk Funny?
When you first get a new set of aligners, your teeth may take a while to get used to it. It might cause you to talk with a slight lisp, especially when it’s your first set of aligners. However, this should pass after a few days as your teeth grow accustomed to the trays.
5. Can I Still Kiss with Invisalign?
Because Invisalign is so subtle, your date probably won’t even notice your aligners at all. If they ask about them, mention that it’s a lot easier than kissing with braces! You may feel uncomfortable kissing with them in at first, but there’s no need to worry; they fit snugly and won’t come loose while you’re kissing. You might be tempted to remove them, but try and keep them in as long as possible to get the results you want.
6. How Do I Keep My Aligners Clean?
Make sure to brush and floss after every meal and snack to keep bacteria from getting trapped in your aligners, as that can cause cavities. When your aligners is out, soak it in clear mouthwash, denture cleaner, or a 50-50 solution of water and hydrogen peroxide. If you do this every day, your aligners will stay perfectly unnoticeable.
Invisalign is clearly the better choice than braces when it comes to straightening your smile. It’s much easier to live with. If you want a straighter smile, ask your dentist about Invisalign today.
